“Thermal Lift” - Patrice Drago

Throughout July, Jo Fleming Contemporary Art is pleased to present a selection of expressive abstracts and smaller works by Annapolis artist Patrice Drago.

Drago’s practice is rooted in abstract expressionism and shaped by a lifelong exploration of two-dimensional media. Working across large-scale mixed-media paintings and intimate abstractions, her work moves fluidly between lyrical abstraction, minimalism, and color field painting.

Thermal Lift is a highly atmospheric body of work that captures the sensory and emotional experience of summer. Through layered imagery, color, collage, texture, and energetic mark-making, Drago explores the tension between freedom and structure, movement and stillness.

Balancing the expansive energy of her larger works are a series of small, contemplative abstractions that evoke quieter summer moments. Read more
