‘Radiant Coast’ | Paintings by Marc Roman

September 1 - October 15

Marc Roman's exhibition, "Radiant Coast," delves into his enduring fascination with the unique charm of Annapolis, which he imagines as a tilting pirate ship, where telephone poles serve as masts and power lines as rigging. The town's architectural angles, forever shifting and settling, appear charmingly askew, while the shadows cast by power lines seem permanently etched onto building facades. These observations deeply inspire his work.

The exhibit also includes paintings of other picturesque locales, such as Chincoteague Island, Virginia, and the coast of Maine, both of which he traveled to in the past year. Roman's artistic process begins with a vivid neon acrylic underpainting, over which he applies layers of high-key oil paint. This method reflects his dual love for the dynamic energy of impassioned action painting and a more deliberate, illustrative approach.

Also on show, large ceramic wall artworks by Jeremy Jernegan.
