A newcomer to Annapolis, Maryland, Jo previously lived in Great Falls Virginia, a suburb of Washington, DC where she created art, worked as a design consultant and raised a family. She studied art and earned a BFA from MICA in Baltimore, Maryland.

Jo spent her childhood in the Appalachian Mountains of Virginia and retains a deep affinity with the natural landscape.

Jo’s artwork has been shown regionally in solo and group exhibitions and is held in private as well as commercial collections.

Her abstract paintings, giving image to environmental concerns of coal mining and global warming, led her to exhibit work in the US Embassy of Mongolia in Ulaanbaatar, and at the US Institute Taipei, Taiwan and to experience an adventure to the opposite side of the earth. Sponsored by the US Embassy in Ulaanbaatar and Art in Embassies Artist Exchange Program of the US State Department, Jo was able to experience art and culture of a distant nation and was able to share common artistic, environmental and climate concerns.

“For me painting is a way of contemplating the natural world and my relationship to it. I seek out

the wild places where unfettered elements of form, pattern and color in the environment are

impacted increasingly, by human presence, and development. I incorporate natural materials,

printed and mixed media collage into my work.”
